I've done vocal NYSSMA for three years and this year I decided to try something new. I decided to do a jazz solo. Now I'm someone who doesn't like to do things that are new or different but I felt like if I didn't take that chance then I wouldn't have another one so I decided to do it and I have no regrets.

Despite the fact that I didn't do as good as I do on a classical solo I felt more free with this solo and that I could put myself more into the song. Not only that but the challenge of trying a scat solo just appealed to me because they seem fun and challenging to figure out how each part fits.

What also was great was how it showed off a different side and I was able to revitalize my love for singing.
